The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., will open its first satellite campus in Tucson
This is great news for our community and the result of several years of hard work entered into by officials with Catholic University of America, our former Mayor, Jonathan Rothschild, our Education Department, Bishop Kicanas, and others. A little background:
Since 2017, Catholic University has worked with over 300 members of the community to customize an undergraduate business degree for Tucson. Catholic University has formed a local employer network to help students build bridges to local businesses and to prepare students for the future of work.
This fall, 2020, we will launch an innovative new program consisting of a BA in Management in Tucson. This program is directed by the University’s Metropolitan School of Professional Studies in collaboration with the Busch School of Business. We will deliver it locally in partnership with Pima Community College.
With the support of generous donors and by keeping costs down through the use of existing space and leading-edge instructional technology, Catholic University also has been able to set initial tuition for the program at a level far less than annual, in-state tuition at any of the prominent four-year public universities in Arizona. Thus, helping ensure that all students are able to share in the benefits that come from earning a traditional four-year Catholic University degree.
Brother and sisters, I am excited that our young people will have an exceptional opportunity to receive an education steeped in our Catholic intellectual tradition without having to leave Tucson. The future is bright for Tucson as students contemplate living a life of meaning while being formed into virtuous business leaders.
